Covid-19

HCCDC is working closely with Tribal and Community partners to help the community respond to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are active Pandemic Task Force subcommittee members in the Education, Grant Coordination, Infrastructure, and Housing work groups helping to prioritize community needs and coordinate the community response.

We also coordinated charitable contributions made to assist families impacted by the pandemic with rent relief, food security, and internet connectivity. This was enabled with generous donations from The Sherwood Foundation, Mutual of Omaha Foundation, the Kauffman Foundation, and others.

Throughout spring and summer of 2020, HCCDC coordinated the USDA Farm to Family food distribution program in Winnebago. This project provided free fresh produce to 240 households via a weekly distribution at our Farmers Market facility, In all, we provided nearly 3500 food boxes — 90,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables to meet the nutrition needs of our community during this pandemic.
